BSocSc, DipCABT C.C.A.B.
Growing up, Tasneem felt immense adoration and empathy for animals of all kind. Her career path was initially rooted in the intriguing field of psychology when she set out to obtain a degree in psychology and organisational psychology at the University of Cape Town. Towards the end of her degree, she began exploring other fields that led her to enrol for COAPE’s C03 Think Cat course, which taught her more about the world of fascinating felines. Having thoroughly enjoyed this course, Tasneem thereafter enrolled for the prestigious COAPE diploma in animal behaviour, obtaining her DipCABT title in 2023. Her days are spent in her family’s pet speciality store, which was established in 1978 and is located in Cape Town, South Africa. During her free time, Tasneem consults with pet parents, continues to further explore the fields of psychology (both human and animal related), and marks for COAPE International. Her passion lies in the balancing of hedonic budgets, providing species-specific advice, and creating a harmonious and positive relationship between pet parents and their beloved pets. Her feline, Yuki Luke (featured above), plays a significant role in her becoming an animal behaviourist. The utilisation of positive reinforcement over many months allowed Yuki Luke to ‘tolerate’ his owner, who adores him more than anything else!
