Marion Leiberich

COAPE DipCABT MHERA Qualified

Marion’s love for animals began at a young age and inspired her to pursue a career dedicated to animal health and welfare. She holds a veterinary degree from the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Germany, and a PhD from the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

Over the past years, much of her professional work has focused on rhinoceros conservation, research and welfare. Throughout this time, however, dogs have remained a constant and important part of her life. She currently shares her home with five rescue dogs and has first-hand experience of both the challenges and rewards of living with multiple dogs.

In 2025, Marion decided to dedicate more of her professional focus on companion animals, in particular animal behaviour and welfare, and completed the COAPE animal diploma in 2026. She has since joined COAPE as a lecturer and tutor and is passionate about helping students develop a scientific, ethical, and compassionate understanding of animal behaviour.

Marion enjoys combining scientific knowledge with practical, real-world experience to promote animal welfare, strengthen the human-animal bond, and support both animals and the people who care for them.
