About the CABTi (COAPE Association of Behaviourists and Trainers International).

The COAPE Association of Behaviourists and Trainers International is a renowned organization that has garnered a reputation as a hub of excellence in the realm of animal behaviour. These professionals specialize in understanding, analysing, and modifying animal behaviour, making them invaluable resources for anyone seeking solutions to their animals’ emotional conflict.

CABTi members are exemplars of excellence in the field of animal behaviour. They bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and compassion to the table, providing invaluable support to individuals facing behaviour challenges with the animals in their care, whether companions or otherwise. Their dedication to science-based, ethical, and holistic methods ensures that animals receive the care and attention they deserve while fostering stronger bonds between animals and people.  For those in need of guidance and assistance with their animals, CABTi Behaviourists are reliable sources of hope and expertise.

CABTi members undergo rigorous and comprehensive training programs that encompass a wide spectrum of subjects relating to animal behaviour, including psychology, ethology, MHERA, animal emotionality, communication, and biology. This extensive training equips them with a deep understanding of the complexities of animal behaviour.

They take a holistic approach to behaviour modification, where they consider not just the observable actions of an animal but also delve into the underlying emotional and psychological factors that may be driving those behaviours. This approach helps them identify and address the root causes of any emotional challenges animals may be experiencing.

CABTi members subscribe solely to the use of science-based and ethical techniques for behaviour modification. They avoid punitive methods and instead focus on positive reinforcement to encourage desired behaviours. This approach ensures the well-being and mental health of the animal, and they believe that each animal is unique. They work closely with pet owners to develop customized behaviour modification plans tailored to the specific needs and circumstances of both the animal and the human family.  They teach human guardians how to better understand and communicate with their animals, equipping them with the tools to manage challenges effectively.

Ultimately, the CABTi’s mission is centred around improving animal welfare. Through their expertise and dedication to resolving behaviour challenges, our members contribute to creating happier, healthier, and more harmonious relationships between animals and their human caregivers.

CABTi members adhere to a very strict Code of Conduct and if they are in breach of this code, members of the public can be assured of accountability through our Complaints procedures.

THE UK DOG BEHAVIOUR AND TRAINING CHARTER

CABTi (formerly known as the CAPBT) is proud to be a founding member organisation of the UK Dog Behaviour & Training Charter. Signatories to the Charter have agreed on a set of minimum standards of animal welfare, professional conduct, and ensure that practitioners only use the most up to date and humane methodologies and tools. At its heart, the UK Dog Behaviour & Training Charter is a code of conduct, ethics and methodology.  Its signatories are comprised of many of the UK’s leading behaviour and training organisations who have come together under the Charter’s umbrella to work in unison for the benefit of dogs, dog owners and the wider profession.

In an unregulated industry, pet owners can often struggle to find a suitably accredited professional to help them and their pet.  While there are many excellent professionals working nationwide, there are also many who continue to use outdated and aversive methods without any oversight or recourse.

The UK Dog Behaviour & Training Charter’s aim is to ensure pet owners that its signatory organisations and their members will adhere to the most modern, scientifically proven, positive methodology.  In addition, Charter organisations pledge to take full accountability for their members with transparent working practices, codes of conduct and (should it be necessary) robust complaints procedures.  Because of this, the public can have full confidence that the professional with whom they choose to work, will not use any equipment designed to cause pain, fear or a startle response.

All current members of CABTi are entitled to use the Charter Symbol, and Founding Member signatory organisations include:
