DipCABT, MHERA Practitioner EMMETT Practitioner and Co-Founder of K9 Academy

Moira Meyer, holds the COAPE Diploma in Animal Behaviour and is  MHERA qualified. She is the Co-Founder of K9 Academy and a passionate advocate for compassionate, force-free animal training. Her journey began in childhood with a love for animals and evolved through her experience in the security industry, where she sought kinder methods for training dogs.
 
After a life-changing motorbike accident, Moira’s determination, and her husband Derek’s support, led her to dedicate her career to animal welfare. Together, they built K9 Academy in the KZN Midlands and North Coast, South Africa, offering training, rehabilitation, and behavioural support. With extensive studies under experts like Dr Ian Dunbar and Dr Karolina Westlund, Moira specialises in working with teenage and aggressive dogs. Deeply involved in rescue work, she continues to “be the bridge” between pets and their guardians through empathy, education, and expert training.

Moira joined the COAPE team in 2022 and marks all the COAPE courses.
