Tarryn Roux

DipCABT (COAPE) OCN, CABTi Practitioner Member

Tarryn Roux is an experienced animal welfare professional with a strong background in shelter management, community outreach, and organisational development across Southern Africa. Her career began at the Mozambique Animal Protection Society (MAPS), where she secured a shelter building with kennels at the local university, introduced structured SOPs for homing and adoption, and organised successful fundraisers to support MAPS’s work.

She later moved to Malawi, where she first volunteered at the Blantyre SPCA (BSPCA) before taking on the role of Shelter Manager for five years. During her tenure, Tarryn was instrumental in transforming the organisation. Her key achievements include securing a major donation that enabled BSPCA to purchase its own property and relocate from the municipal kennels, building the shelter’s operations from the ground up, and implementing strategies for community outreach, volunteer coordination, homing procedures, and financial management. She also facilitated significant support from Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS), obtaining funding for a world-class veterinary clinic and overseeing WVS volunteer programmes, including clinic management, import logistics, and acting as liaison with government authorities.

Tarryn later became the Country Manager for Mission Rabies Malawi, leading the national effort to eliminate rabies by 2030. Under her leadership, the team vaccinated more than 200,000 dogs and cats in 5 years, and delivered life-saving education on bite prevention and rabies awareness to over 1 million children across the country.

Now back in South Africa, Tarryn continues her commitment to animal welfare as the founder and director of the Furever Friends Foundation, a growing NPO focused on outreach work, training, and education. With her depth of experience and unwavering passion, she remains dedicated to improving the lives of animals and strengthening communities through sustainable, welfare-driven initiatives.
